Ar-Risala Institute is a traveling institute that focuses on teaching the traditional Islamic sciences in short and focused seminars. We started in 2016 in the DC Metropolitan area realizing there was a need in the local community for such seminars, especially for those people with busy schedules.

Our classes are designed such that people with busy lives can take them without having to take extended time out of their schedules.

Our instructors are local, highly qualified and have trained extensively in the traditional Islamic sciences. Additionally our instructors have a good understanding of the today’s modern cultures and how to properly apply Islam in said environments in accordance with the teachings of the Qur’an and authentic Sunnah; they are also able to convey the teachings in an articulate and clear manner.

Our Name and Logo Meaning

Ar-Risala linguistically means ‘the message’ in Arabic. Islamically the term “Ar-Risala” means:

  • The channel between Allah and mankind.
  • It can also be used to refer to Islam
  • Divine message revealed from Allah through a Messenger to the people

Thus at Ar-Risala Institute our goal is to be the connection to help the Muslims learn the divinely revealed knowledge to the Prophet Muhammad (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam).

Our logo is a geometric design that is comprised of four books and four nibs (the pointed end part of a pen, which distributes the ink on the writing surface). We used the book and pen as a symbol of knowledge and the message that Ar-Risala references.
